Yesterday afternoon I was invited over to the wonderfully refurbished Newbridge Memo. The event being held was an afternoon tea with a gorgeous little boy called Harri who has Williams Syndrome. His mum and dad are working tirelessly to raise awareness and funding for this rare condition. They are hugely supported by close friend Hannah along with many other friends and family.
There was also another local little girl attending called Hollie who has Williams Syndrome, with her family. There was an absolutely outstanding turn-out with dozens of children and their parents. A great deal of effort had been made in organising the afternoon’s activities. Many volunteers who were supporting the event had arranged a soft play area for the children, craft activities and face-painting. A staggering amount of awesome cakes were sold along with lots of tea and coffee! Many donations of lovely gifts had been made by local companies to raffle or auction.
The children were delighted to be greeted at the door by Mickey Mouse who spent the next few hours entertaining the children! There was also additional support by the very beautiful Onyx who is Miss Teen Galaxy Wales. Her little brother Kene happens to be a very good friend of young Harri as they attend the same school.
From my observations, great fun was had by all and a good deal of money was raised. This was one of a weekend of activities which started Friday with a non-uniform day for the children at school. Today there was an organised walk for children and their families at Tredegar Park in Newport.
I hope you will enjoy viewing some of the images from yesterday’s event in Newbridge:
