This weekend I was delighted to meet baby Mali with her gorgeous parents Emily and Richard. This precious little one already has quite a story to tell. Although the size of a newborn, Mali was actually born ten weeks ago prematurely by emergency caesarean weighing less than 3lbs. Mum Emily had developed pre-eclampsia and was very poorly so Dr’s induced to protect them both. Mali (Welsh for Molly) was immediately put into the special care baby unit where she spent the next seven weeks. She was actually due the weekend her mum booked the photoshoot and had been out of hospital a fortnight! Although still very dainty and now weighing less than 7lbs, Mali was not so sleepy and very alert.
Mum and dad had done their research though on what they hoped to achieve fom the newborn shoot. I was delighted to find Rich was a fire-fighter and brought in his jacket, helmet and boots as props! As baby always rules the day, it took quite a while before we managed to finally get her off to sleep. We then gently placed her into dad’s upside down fire-helmet! Although from the images you might think Mali is balanced precariously, health and safety of baby always comes first. Mum and dad were kneeled down either side of her very close in case she moved whilst I snapped away! I’m sure you’ll agree that after such a traumatic start to life, Mali is doing incredibly well. Her gorgeous parents also look amazing after enduring so much in recent weeks.
Emily and Richard it was an immense pleasure to meet you all, and I really hope I get to see Mali growing big and strong in the future!
