Last week I had the immense pleasure of photographng the wedding of Aimee and Chris at Caerphilly Castle. I was born in Caerphilly and have always been fascinated by castles since childhood. I was therefore delighted to have this opportunity of photographing a wedding at such a stunning venue. The legal bit of the ceremony was conducted at the Ystrad Mynach registry office and then we made our way to the Castle for the reception.
It had been raining all morning so we were pleased to see it drying up although still quite cool and breezy. Aimee and Chris are a quirky, funky couple who have a beautiful little girl called Lily and one of their interests is video-gaming. This was therefore not your average wedding …. Aimee wore blue and the boys wore very fetching Welsh tartan kilts! Their table settings were all characters from their favourite video game Final Fantasy. They also had an unusual colour scheme which was blue, silver and black but looked really effective! I love something a bit out of the ordinary so was in my elements!
I was delighted to get some awesome outdoor shots in the grounds of this amazing castle. Later that evening when I finally left, I was dragging my trolley of equipment back up the hill to the car park when I saw the most amazing sunset. I literally stopped there and then on the hill to unpack my kit again so I could get some images. The castle looked so fantastic against the very late setting sun with stunning orange, pinks and purples in the sky.
It was a wonderful day and I left the happy couple dancing the night away with their friends and family. I wish Aimee and Chris a very long and happy marriage and best wishes for their future. I hope you’ll enjoy looking through a small selection of their wedding photos below:
