On Saturday I met first-time parents Alice and Adam with their new little princess baby Lyra. They had brought 13 day old Lyra for her newborn photography session. I had mentioned in a message to Alice how much I loved her new baby daughters name. She advised it was the name of a small constellation. The Lyra constellation is best known for its brightest star Vega – the fourth brightest star in the night sky! It was first catalogued by the astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century. To represent that Alice had brought with her a navy scarf covered in gold stars to use as a prop!
Mum had also advised me that daisies are apparently the flower for the month of April (who knew!) As Lyra was born in April, she asked if I had anything suitable with daisies on. I knew I had a bonnet that would likely be too big for Lyra (it was!). I also owned a daisy headband for an adult. It had never been used so I cut it down the night before the session and stitched it to fit a newborn head! I’m sure you’ll agree from the photos, it suited baby Lyra perfectly!
Congratulations Alice and Adam on your beautiful new arrival. I have a feeling she’s going to be a proper little star when she grows up! Hopefully I’ll get to meet her again in the future to see her grow.
