Wedding of Anthony & Bethan at The Vale Resort, Cardiff

On 6th January I had the pleasure of documenting the wedding of Bethan and Anthony at The Vale Resort, Cardiff.  It was to be my first wedding of 2017 and of course in January the days are very short.  So when this lovely couple booked me last year my first thoughts were of the weather and lack of light. Even more so when I discovered their ceremony wasn’t going to be until 4pm!  We came up with a plan … Bethan would get ready a little earlier and agreed to meet Anthony at the venue with me prior to their ceremony.  We could then hopefully get some lovely images within the grounds of The Vale Resort.  This concept of a ‘sneak peak’ prior to the wedding with just the bride, groom and photographer is common in the USA. However it hasn’t really caught on over here in the UK yet.

The Big Day:

Unfortunately on the ‘Big Day’ itself … the weather was disappointing and it rained all day!  We certainly weren’t going to allow a little bit of rain put us off!  Despite the weather, we managed to get some lovely photos technically outdoors but slightly under cover.  The last thing we wanted was for Bethan to get her beautiful dress soiled before we got to the ceremony!

Bethan had her three gorgeous sisters plus Anthony’s youngest sister Chevonne as her adult bridesmaids.  In addition, both their respective neices were the cutest little flower girls ever!  By the time the ceremony was over and we headed back to The Vale for the ‘wedding breakfast’, it was completely dark!  Despite it already being dark outside, the room looked amazing. There were candles lit and fairy lights wrapped around the huge pillars in the Conservatory. I knew this would create a lovely bokeh effect in some of the photos.

It was a great wedding and I wish Anthony and Bethan every happiness as they start married life together. I hope you enjoy looking through their photos below:
