Last Sunday I travelled to Cardiff Bay for the wedding of this gorgeous couple Chris & Jade. I love all my wedding photoshoots but I had been excited about this wedding for months. I have photographed many country weddings but this was to be a slightly more urban, city wedding. No ‘greenery’ in sight!
I met Jade at her mums house in Barry where all the girls were busy getting ready, having hair and make-up done. Jade’s two sisters Emily & Lauren and future sister-in law Rachel were the adult bridesmaids. Rowan their three year old son was to be their Page-boy. He had the incredibly important role of preceeding his mum walking down the aisle. Rowan would be carrying a wooden sign announcing ‘Here Comes Mummy’ made by Emily at Em-Porium! After photographing the girlies and lots of little details, I headed off to the venue to meet the boys! Portland House in Bute Street is a little gem (not so little inside!) of a venue. It was an old Banking Hall so has an awesome main room with huge pillars, high ceilings and massive windows. These of course let in loads of light which s a photographers dream!
Jade arrived in a beautiful vintage car looking absolutely stunning. She is to date one of the funkiest, daintiest pink-haired brides I’ve ever photographed! Hubby-to-be Chris is also one of the tallest at 6’8″! However the stunning venue even made Chris look small!
It was an awesome wedding full of happiness, emotion and fun. I laughed so much at the speeches I had a job to keep my camera still! By the end of the day, Chris and Jade ended up behind bars. However, I’m pleased to say it wasn’t through misbehaving but down in The Vault below Portland House (where apparently they hold the occasional rave!) It was so much fun photographing down there – definitely not your average place to take wedding photos! But then Chris and Jade are not your average couple!
I really enjoyed photographing this wedding day … it was so special and a privilege to be part of. Thank you guys for choosing me as your photographer. I wish you both every happiness as you now enjoy life together as husband and wife, with little Rowan. If you ever decide to add to your family …. I want to do the baby photos! 🙂
