Last Saturday I had the privilege of documenting the wedding of Joanne & Dean. This lovely couple actually live in Victoria, Australia! Joanne moved to Oz 21 years ago from Cwmbran and met and fell in love with Dean 8 years ago. They love their fur-babies and have three whippet dogs together. Due to the fact they live on the other side of the world, they had two wedding celebrations. The first was the weekend before where they were legally married in Australia. However, as most of Jo’s family are in South Wales, they arranged a second wedding here! Jo booked me many months previously but I didn’t get to meet them until three days before the wedding.
Joanne’s family have connections to St Hilda’s Church in Griffithstown so had arranged a blessing there. It was so nice for Jo to be able to wear her wedding dress for a second time. Her friend and bridesmaid Nadine had travelled with them from Australia. Jo’s sister Rachel was also bridesmaid and the girls looked stunning in long pale blue dresses. As with the previous weekend in Australia, it had rained and likewise it was raining yet again in Wales! Dean and Jo had arranged for a dove release after their wedding blessing. Sadly, due to the inclement weather, this wasn’t possible so they were only able to hold the doves instead. They were very cute though and it made for some nice photos.
After the ceremony, we all drove down to the stunning New House Country Hotel on the outskirts of Caerphilly. By the time we arrived, it had stopped raining and was starting to brighten up. I was delighted to be able to get some fabulous outdoor pics as the venue and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Autumn is my favourite time of year because the colours are stunning and makes for great imagery. Inside the four girlies from the Cambria String Quartet were playing beautifully for the guests.
The newlyweds had arranged to do the speeches after their starter and prior to the main course. Jo’s dad and the groom himself each gave a lovely speech. I then left them to enjoy the rest of their day with family and friends.
This fabulous couple are now back in Australia and I wish them every happiness for their future life together as husband and wife 🙂
