Wedding of Shan and Tim at the Celtic Manor

Last Wednesday I was delighted to document the wedding of Shan and Tim at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. This was my very first wedding of 2020 and happily although a bit damp and dismal, it remained dry. This lovely couple from Cwmbran have been together for forty years – yep that’s right – 40 years! Most of their friends and acquaintances had assumed they were already married. However, despite two grown-up children and three gorgeous grand-children, Shan and Tim had never actually married. Shan had a recent health scare but is doing well now. Much to Shan’s surprise, Tim went to book their wedding date and came back to announce they were marrying on her 60th birthday at 2pm – the time she was born! I was actually blown away when she told me that ….. what an old romantic! 🙂

Shan didn’t want the fuss of pre-wedding pics so I was meeting her at the venue. Their ceremony was being held at The Rafters (or Twenty-Ten Club) at the resort. I arrived at 1.30pm to find Shan already sat in her vintage wedding car outside – one eager bride-to–be! Her son Blaine was walking her down the aisle to his dad and daughter Nicola and grand-daughter Keira were bridesmaids. Shan had chosen a lovely burgundy colour scheme. She looked amazing in a full-length 20’s inspired champagne beaded gown from All About Eve Bridal in Newport. Her stunning bouquets were provided by Flowers at The Ivy in Newport. Tim’s best man and very close friend Cliff handed over the rings during the ceremony. After the legalities were over, everyone mingled with welcome drinks and we took advantage of the light and continuing dry weather for some outdoor photos.

Reception:

Family and friends later enjoyed a fabulous three course meal and of course the lovely speeches by best man Cliff, a few words from the groom himself – and even Shan’s sister asked to say a few loving words. There was certainly much laughter and happiness during these celebrations. The room was later revamped once again for the band. After the first dance I left Tim & Shan to enjoy the rest of their evening. It was an absolute pleasure to document this very special occasion – guys I wish you every continued happiness in your (now) married life! Hope you enjoy looking through a selection of your pics below:
